Being Here – Poem Day 23

When I can’t stop pushing forward – Reflecting

Yesterday’s poem worked quietly with the body —
allowing stillness to be safe when starting feels out of reach.

Today’s poem stays with the experience of that state.

When I can’t get started — Reflecting
does not try to energise, encourage, or explain.

It names what low agency can feel like from the inside:
the flatness,
the absence of urgency,
the sense of being present without momentum.

This poem recognises that difficulty initiating
is not always resistance, avoidance, or lack of will.

Sometimes it is simply where the system is —
after effort, after pressure, after too much demand.

There is nothing here to practise.
Nothing to push through.

Just language for an experience many people carry quietly,
often without much permission to name.

Simply read the poem and let the words land is enough.

Warmly,
Per

Poem – When I can’t get started – Reflecting

There are times when beginning feels harder than it should.
Not because the task is unclear,
but because the energy to meet it isn’t there.

The day may stretch out ahead,
full of possibilities,
yet none of them seem close enough to touch.

Motivation is often spoken about as something you either have or don’t.
But lived experience is rarely that simple.

Sometimes the body doesn’t respond to intention.
Plans stay theoretical.
Decisions remain suspended.

This can be frustrating,
especially when there’s an expectation
that wanting something should be enough to make it happen.

It’s easy, in these moments,
to turn the pause into a judgement —
to see stillness as laziness,
or hesitation as failure.

Yet not starting is not always avoidance.
It can be a sign of depletion,
of uncertainty,
or of having moved too fast for too long.

There may be a quiet wish underneath it all —
for clarity,
for direction,
for something to feel worth beginning.

Recognising this doesn’t create momentum.
It doesn’t unlock a next step.
It simply allows the experience of not starting to be seen without pressure,
as part of how agency ebbs and flows over time.
