Poem – Letting Go
The Body Release
-by Per Norrgren
I sat with my sorrow,
cradling it gently, like a leaf in autumn’s quiet hand.
The weight of years whispered,
“Hold me,” but the sky stretched wide, saying,
“Release.”
In the stillness, I heard the earth sigh,
as if it too had carried what wasn’t needed.
The river, undisturbed,
flowed past rocks it once crashed upon—
and yet, it moved on.
There is a grace,
in setting down what does not serve.
Even the flame knows
when its time has come
to flicker, then bow.
I place my hand upon my heart,
and feel its steady pulse,
no longer rushing to mend the unfixable.
And in that small, sacred breath,
I let go.
