The Breach Of My Life
– by Per Norrgren
I wake to the hush of morning,
the sky still quiet, the world just beginning—
and my breath, soft as a wave returning to shore,
is the first thing I notice.
I follow it as it rises,
a wind through hollow reeds,
a river smoothing the stones of my ribs,
a bird lifting into an unmarked sky.
Oh, what a wonder, this breath,
this gentle, tireless companion,
walking with me through sorrow,
dancing with me in joy,
whispering—stay, stay, stay.
And when the world leans too close,
when the weight of the days gathers in my chest,
I turn again to the rhythm that never leaves me,
the tide that does not falter.
It is not the noise that saves me,
but the quiet between—
a breath held, then given,
as if the whole earth were exhaling with me.
Come, sit with me.
Feel the wind through your ribs,
the steady tide beneath your hand,
the way breath carries you home.
